For years and years the Ford Mustang has just been an exclusively North American affair, with the global enthusiasts been forced to spend heavily to get their hands on Ford’s amazing coupe. Credits to its ground-up restyle in 2014, the car travelled worldwide expanding its reach to over 140 countries.
The makers’ decision proved to be a game-changer after the analysis from IHS Automotive specified 110,000 Mustang Coupes had been successfully sold across the globe during 2015–and more 30,000 convertible sales– giving it the tag of the world’s best-selling sports coupe by a substantial margin.
Mustang’s success travelled all the way to 2016 as it upped the ante and took over the crown as world’s best-selling sports car, credits to a 6-percent increase in international sales, for a global tally of 150,431 cars.
As quoted by the marketing manager of Ford Mustang, “The legacy of Mustang remains to grow, and in places it never reached before,” The auto-makers have increased its endeavors to make the car available in new markets.
Ford looks forward to increase the car’s global growth in 2017 as it plans to extend the car’s network across 6 additional countries this year.
