To gain an edge in the emerging competitive landscape, Ford has introduced some major improvements in it's 2020 Ford Focus models and the carmaker has recently revealed the changes that will appeal the customers.
The 2020 Ford Focus models will come as a hatchback as well as a sedan and also as a station wagon. The upcoming models of Ford Focus will look more upscale and they will have more space along with improved handling.
Greater Space and better handling
The new Ford Focus will have a longer wheelbase; hence the vehicle gains 3 inches of additional rear legroom space. The Focus wagon gets 58 cubic feet of cargo space due to foldable rear seats. This can be considered as a major improvement over the current Ford Focus Hatchback which has 44.3 cubic feet of cargo space.
The new Focus models will also have improved handling due to a better suspension system and a new chassis that offers 20% increment in torsional rigidity. The new Focus gets an Electronic Power Assist Steering system and a drive mode system that gives the option to select three driving modes (Normal, Eco, and Sport).
Infotainment system
The 2020 Ford Focus’s interiors will have some advanced system like the Co-Pilot 360; the new driver assists system. Other features include adaptive front lighting, active park assist, adaptive cruise control and evasive steering assist system. The new model will be equipped with FordPass Connect telematics system and a wi-fi hotspot that can serve 10 wireless devices at a time.
Engines
Ford has begun to sell the new Ford Focus vehicles in the European as well as Chinese markets. The new Focus in these markets will get 2 variations of EcoBoost engine, namely a turbocharged 1.0-liter engine and a new 1.5-liter engine. A 2.0-litre diesel engine option is also being offered for diesel models. The engines will be paired with 8-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission system. It is speculated that the American model will get a fine-tuned version of the 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine.
