Audi Sport officially unwraps rear wheel drive R8

Audi sport has brought the rumours to rest by officially unleashing a rear-wheel-drive version of its R8, by introducing the limited edition model at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Targeting just 999 units worldwide, Audi sport has launched this newcomer in two forms: the R8 V10 RWS and the R8 Spyder V10 RWS.

The automaker chose to stick with its traditional 5,2-litre mid-mounted V10, which generates 397 kW and an impressive torque of 540 N.m. This helps the coupe reach zero-to-100 km/h in merely 3.7 seconds whereas the soft-top takes 3.8 to reach the 100 meter mark. These two variants offer top speeds of 319 km/h and 317 km/h, respectively.

The car’s “exclusively refined chassis setup” makes way for “well-controlled drifts”. Furthermore, the coupé tips the scales at 1 590 kg, without the added weight of an all-wheel-drive system. Meanwhile, The Spyder V10 RWS weighs 40 kg lighter than the Spyder V10, at 1 680 kg. This model is fitted with the standard five-spoke, 19-inch black alloys.

As quoted by the CEO of Audi sport, “The R8 V10 RWS is made for purists”. A limited-edition special model, the R8 V10 RWS is golden offer. Thanks to its mid-mounted V10 engine and of-course the rear-wheel drive, it works wonders to bring the driving concept of R8 LMS racing car to the streets.

What set this new R8 apart is the matt black grille and air apertures fixed at the front and rear of the car. The upper side1blade is luxuriously finished in gloss black along with the lower blade in the body colour.
