Wave a hello to Mercedes S-class coupe and cabriolet

Wave a hello to Mercedes S-class coupe and cabriolet

Embrace yourself Mercedes lovers! The ‘three pointed star auto-maker’ has unleashed the S-class coupe and cabriolet with some fairly visual changes that enhances it’s exterior, and boosts its power with the advanced power train line-up.

The surprise resides under the bonnet, as the coupe and cabriolet substituted the previous 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 by the newer 4.0-litre unit, albeit with 603 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque.

Owing to the all-wheel drive traction, the S63 works wonders to sprint from zero to 62mph in preposterous 3.5 seconds. It is an exceptional time for a vehicle that weighs over two tonnes.

The top-end S65 features no mechanical changes at all. The car still generates monstrous 621bhp and 737lb ft torque, thanks to its 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12.

All models showcase a 9-speed automatic transmission except the S65 which makes use of a 7-speed auto. The S560 coupe features all-wheel drive while the S560 Cabriolet features the rear-wheel drive. Focusing over the AMG garage, the S63 also comes loaded with the goodness of all-wheel drive while the S65 comes with rear-wheel drive.

What marks the visual tweaks are the revised internals for the lights, re-designed bumpers, and the revised dash complimented by the single pane of glass which encloses the couple of 12.3-inch screens laying the foundation of the infotainment hub. The car also features an all-new steering wheel enriched by the goodness of touch-sensitive controls.

The tech upgrades are led by an advanced feature that enables the cars to automatically adjust their speed as per different road situations like highway exits, roundabouts or toll booths. This feature operates on an enhanced camera integrated with a map and a radar system to determine the driving behaviour.

These models are most likely to storm the market in mid-2018 and their prices will be disclosed closer to the market launch.
