Toyota had long teased the Asia-specific Toyota Yaris sedan for raising the interests of Indian car enthusiasts who are eagerly waiting for the car. The wait will soon be over as the Toyota Yaris sedan is due to be launched on 18th May in India. The sedan is attractive-looking and it will be competing with Honda Civic and Hyundai Verna. Since it is manufactured locally for the Indian market, customers can expect the Yaris sedan to be competitively priced in comparison to Japanese cars like Honda Civic.
The Toyota Yaris sedan is based on Toyota’s Global ‘B platform’ and it will be made available with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that delivers 107 hp. Customers can opt for a six-speed manual transmission system or a seven-step CVT system.
Ride Quality
The Toyota Yaris sedan offers a decent ride quality and the credit goes to the strong brakes that allow the sedan to be comfortably driven around the corners. The sedan may not deliver a fun driving experience but it does offer the desired stability at higher speeds. The adjustable driver’s seat offers the necessary ergonomics for driving comfortably.
Safety Features
The basic Toyota Yaris J Variant is equipped with 7 airbags that offer protection to the driver as well as passengers. The airbags also protect driver’s knees along with providing ‘side impact protection’. The sedan also comes with Anti-lock Brake System, central locking, keyless entry, tilt-adjustable steering and power windows. The brake system features Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist. The car has an audio system that comprises of a CD and MP3 player with Bluetooth Connectivity. The system is complemented by 4 speakers.
Car experts who have reviewed the sedan feel that it is an above-average sedan with excellent safety features. Clearly, the car is not for customers who expect high performance and a highly refined drive quality. However, the Yaris sedan will cater to most of the needs of the upper-middle-class customers who wish to buy a high-quality sedan.
