Will the 2019 Honda Fit’s minor changes make it a car worth its price?

Will the 2019 Honda Fit’s minor changes make it a car worth its price?

Honda Fit is the subcompact car that is considered highly practical. Its ability to provide reconfigurable cargo space has given it an edge over the competition. The functionality provided by the Honda Fit is its key selling point and hence Honda is reluctant to introduce any major changes in the newer models of the subcompact car.

The Honda Fit model was refreshed last year and the newer 2019 model doesn’t deviate much from the previous model.  The higher trim levels have been equipped with additional features that make the Honda Fit a costlier vehicle in the small car segment.

New features

Currently, the 2019 Honda Fit is available in four trim levels, namely LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L.  Additionally, models equipped with Sensing Now functionality are equipped with auto high-beams. The car is equipped with underbody spoilers, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Higher trims like the EX get features like variable intermittent windshield wipers and a one-touch power moonroof. Additionally, the EX-L model gets heated front seats and leather-trimmed upholstery. An additional $1000 is required for installing a navigation system in EX-L.

Engine

Like the previous version, the 2019 Honda Fit is equipped with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that delivers a power of 130 hp and a torque of 114 lb-ft. The LX, Sport, and EX models come with a six-speed manual transmission system while the customers have the option to pay an extra $800 to equip their Honda Fit with continuously variable transmission system (CVT). The fuel economy figures for the car are 29/36/31 mpg city/highway/combined for the manual version and 33/40/36 mpg for the CVT version.

Competition

The starting price of the 2019 Honda Fit is $17,080 and it is same as the previous model. The Honda Fit has all the features that deliver a good value for money. It is meant for those customers who wish to a buy a practical car which is worth its price. Customers opting for the CVT version have a choice of paying additional $1000 for equipping their Honda Fit with safety features and advanced driver assist technology.

However, the Honda Fit is not meant for the price-sensitive customers because competitors like 2018 Nissan Versa Note and 2018 Ford Fiesta are less expensive than the 2019 Honda Fit. The Honda Fit also faces competition from 2018 Chevrolet Sonic and 2018 Toyota Yaris. Will Honda Fit’s practicality and features help the small car to beat its key competitors?
