Why will the 2019 Toyota Avalon win over younger consumers?

The Toyota Avalon has been an all-time favorite and it has mostly appealed to elderly customers whose median age is reported as 64 years. To remain competitive, Toyota updated the Toyota Avalon and repositioned it to attract younger customers. The 2019 Toyota Avalon is based on Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) and it has been endowed with an athletic personality that makes it look more aggressive than its predecessor.

The sedan will be available in the hybrid as well as non-hybrid versions. XSE, XLE, Touring, and Limited are the trim levels for non-hybrid Toyota Avalon while XSE HV, XLE HV and Limited HV are the trim levels for hybrid versions.  Recently, car experts conducted a test-drive by driving the 2019 Toyota Avalon on the curvy roads of the Californian beach city of Del Mar and the results proved to be impressive.

Powertrain

The non-hybrid models of the 2019 Toyota Avalon are equipped with a 3.5-litre V6 engine that delivers a power of 301 hp and a torque of 267 pound-feet. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission system.  The sedan offers excellent riding experience due to a stiffer suspension and sharp steering.  The newly installed Intake Sound Generator makes the sedan appear even more aggressive.

The non-hybrid versions deliver decent MPG ratings of 22/32/26 for city/highway/combined while the hybrid versions have impressive MPG ratings of 43/44/44 for city/highway/combined respectively. The hybrid models are paired with the continuously variable transmission system.

Technological features

The 2019 Toyota Avalon promises to be one of the safest sedans as it is equipped with Toyota’s Safety Sense P package that offers features like dynamic cruise control, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning and pre-collision warning plus pedestrian detection. Top-trim levels are equipped with Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system that uses intelligent technology to monitor the roads and provide suitable continuously variable damping force.

The new models of the sedan also come with the integration between Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa. The models are also equipped with the latest Entune infotainment system with Wi-Fi connectivity and Toyota Remote Access. The tech features are clearly meant to impress younger buyers.

The base price of the non-hybrid version is $35,500 while the starting price of the hybrid version is $36,500. The new model of Avalon is expensive than its rivals like Ford Taurus, Chevy Impala, and Buick LaCrosse.
