The Lexus RX and the Lexus NX are premium SUV’s that offer a high level of luxury that exceeds customer expectations. However, both these SUV’s come with hefty price tags; hence they are beyond the reach of young working-class customers who desire to buy a luxurious SUV.
In order to meet the demands of the Millennial generation, Lexus has launched a new compact crossover that is not only luxurious but also affordable to young customers residing in cities. The Lexus UX is smaller than RX as well as NX and it is specifically designed for urban customers.
The UX’s design is based on Lexus’s Global Architecture – Compact platform and it was recently revealed at the 2018 New York International Auto Show. The crossover will be available in two versions.
Two Versions
The new Lexus UX will be sold in two version, namely the UX 200 and the UX 250h. The UX 200 will be equipped with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and the UX 250h will have the 2.0-litre engine paired with a 4th generation hybrid drivetrain. Lexus claims that the UX 250h has the capability to optimize the hybrid operations depending on the driver’s driving habits and the routes traveled.
Competition
The crossover’s low price point makes it a worthy competitor for rivals like 2019 BMW X2, 2019 Cadillac XT4, 2018 Jaguar E-Pace and 2018 Volvo XC40. As mentioned before, the Lexus UX is designed to attract young and well-to-do customers who are thirty-plus and who want a right mix of practicality and luxury. The Lexus UX is expected to have a starting price of $30,000.
The Lexus UX has a turning circle of 34 feet and its 177-inch length enables it to be easily parked in compact spaces.
