The 2018 Geneva Motor Show is turning out to be a special event in which previously discontinued models are making a comeback. The Subaru VIZIV Concept Tourer is hogging the spotlight in the show for being the reincarnated version of the previously discontinued Subaru WRX wagon hatchback.
Like other cars in the WRX product line, the Subaru WRX hatchback was well recognized for its high-performance engine as well as its spacious interiors. In fact, it has inspired the design of other popular models like the Outback crossover.
The Subaru VIZIV Tourer will be equipped with a box engine whose power will be transmitted to all the four wheels. As of now, Subaru hasn’t revealed any details about the engine power. Subaru has no plans to launch an electric version of the tourer.
Aggressively Styled
The Tourer has been aggressively styled and it will be as big as the Impressa wagon. The tourer style has been accentuated by the hexagonal grille, the sculpted fenders, and a long roofline. Moreover, the model looks very sporty due bumper spoiler lips, dual exhaust tips and bumper-incorporated air vents.
The VIZIV Tourer embodies Subaru’s DYNAMIC x SOLID design philosophy which is based on the Japanese carmaker’s new Global Platform. Subaru’s new platform provides quieter cabin, precise handling, enhanced crash absorption mechanism and very little vibration.
Advanced features
The Subaru VIZIV concept Tourer is equipped with the advanced next-generation EyeSight, an autonomous driving system, that utilizes cameras to control the steering while the vehicle is being driven on the highway, in slow-moving traffic, and around the corners.
The VIZIV Tourer will also get touch-operated controls that will replace conventional handles. The model will be featuring safety functions like lane-departure warning system and emergency brake system. Subaru models that have been equipped with the EyeSight system are always counted amongst the safest vehicles to drive.
Competition
The car is specifically targeted towards customers who lead an active as well as a busy lifestyle. The Tourer will be primarily competing with midsize SUV’s like Honda Pilot, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, and Ford Edge. Will it prove to be a worthy competitor within the segment?
