The Toyota Corolla hatchback has been one of the most popular sedans that are not only reasonably priced but also spacious, fuel-efficient, safe and durable. The sleek hatchback has been designed to offer a smooth driving experience to a typical urban customer. Recently, the 2019 Toyota Corolla was unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show and the latest model appears to be bigger, bolder and more upscale than the previous version.
The 2019 Corolla hatchback is targeted towards the high-end customers. The new model comes with hybrid powertrain options that will meet the future global exhaust emissions standards set by various countries. Toyota’s future-ready hatchback is based on the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform and there will be three powertrain options available with the new model.
Engine Options
The 2019 Toyota Corolla hatchback comes with 2 hybrid engine options along with a 1.2-litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine. One of the hybrid powertrains comprises of a 1.8-litre inline-four engine that is coupled with a motor to deliver 122 hp. The second hybrid powertrain option comprises a 2.0-litre inline-four hybrid engine that delivers 178 hp.
According to Toyota, the 2.0-litre engine offers an energetic ‘fun-to-drive’ experience while the 1.8-litre engine offers a smooth drive and a much better fuel economy. Additionally, the Corolla hatchback’s new powertrain will have 40% thermal efficiency and the vehicle will also be equipped with paddle shifters.
Design
The 2019 Corolla Hatchback wears a refreshing look and it looks much sleeker dues to sharper headlights and a wide grille that resembles a catamaran hull. The car has a lower stance due to the TGNA architecture. The lower center of gravity has not only given the car a wider look but it has also retained the measurements of the interior dimensions.
Competition
The Toyota Corolla hatchback competes with rivals like the Mazda 3, Hyundai i30 and Volkswagen Golf. The Corolla hatchback will be sold under the brand name ‘Auris’ in the European market and it is not known whether it will be made available in Dubai in the near future.
However, the car’s style, powertrain options, and the upscale personality makes it irresistibly attractive. Will you prefer the 2019 Toyota Corolla over its key competitors? Please post your opinions in the comment box below.
