SUV’s in Dubai are mostly targeted towards luxury car buyers who want the large luxury car to fulfill their transportation and adventure needs. Toyota has consolidated its position in the Dubai car market by introducing popular models like Land Cruiser, Fortuner and the RAV4.
It is important to note that the Toyota Highlander is another popular SUV that caters to those customers who want a mid-sized SUV that is positioned between the Fortuner and the RAV4. Currently, the SUV is not available in Dubai and all the legal residents of the UAE can import it from another region. The Highlander models are categorized in six trim level: LE, LE Plus, XLE, SE, Limited and Limited Platinum.
Popular as ever
The Highlander’s sales have been increasing steadily over the years due to its reputation for being a complete family car that is safe and spacious without being stylish and luxurious. The SUV meets most of the driving needs and it remains as practical as ever without being too different from its predecessor.
The Engine
Customers of the 2018 Toyota Highlander have the option to choose between any of the three engine models, namely the 2.7-litre four-cylinder model, the 3.5-litre V6 model and the hybrid model. The inline-four model delivers 185 hp while the V6 model delivers 295 hp. The V6 engine is hooked to an 8-speed automatic transmission system.
The SUV model with the hybrid powertrain is equipped with a retuned V6 engine that is coupled with two electric motors to deliver 306 hp. The powertrain is coupled with a continuously variable automatic transmission system.
The Interiors
The Highlander has modest but spacious interiors. Toyota hasn’t invested much in sprucing up the interiors to get a premium feel. Rather, the Highlander has been made spacious to give plenty of leg and headroom. There are also captain chair’s which are specially meant for children.
Toyota hasn’t added any new style elements to the 2018 model. The vehicle has a basic infotainment system that does not have Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Space and comfort provided by the SUV are its key selling points that have helped the vehicle to successfully compete with Dodge Durango, Mazda CX-9 Signature, Volkswagen Atlas and Chevrolet Traverse.
