Volkswagen has always used the Jetta compact car as its trump card in its mission for becoming the world’s largest automobile manufacturer. The Jetta had earned the reputation for its simplicity as it was positioned as a ‘no-nonsense’ car that delivered high practicality at a low cost.
Jetta’s simplicity helped it to generate sales in the USA and the Middle East. Moreover, it made the car a competent rival against the likes of Mazda 3, Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic and Mitsubishi Lancer. However, the car wasn’t popular in key markets like Europe where other VW vehicles like the Golf provided successful due to their stylish design.
Realizing that the customers are becoming more style conscious, Volkswagen finally decided to design a larger Jetta that will based on the MQB platform and whose style will also appeal to European customers. The length and the width of the compact sedan have been increased by 43 mm and 35 mm respectively. The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta was unveiled at the ongoing 2018 Detroit Motor Show and the new model clearly appears to be more comfortable than the existing models.
