The award-winning Kia Cerato is one of the best-selling cars around the world and its popularity has increased considerably ever since its facelifted version was introduced in 2006. 2018 Kia Cerato, the car’s latest version, is due to be launched at the upcoming Detroit Motor Show. Recently, Kia has released a sketch of the much-anticipated sedan model and eager customers can catch a glimpse of the model even before it is unveiled. The sketch indicates that the new version of Kia Cerato is heavily stylised and customers are expect significant changes in its design as well as features.
More stylish, more premium
The design of the new Kia Cerato is heavily inspired by Stinger, Kia’s premium sports sedan, and hence the compact car appears more sporty and luxurious than the outgoing model. The car has been given an aggressive look by a well-chiselled bonnet and the bumper.
The aggressive look has been accentuated by a ‘tiger-nose’ grille in the front. The rear has also been given a new look that has been made contemporary due to upgraded LED taillights and a horizontal chrome strip.
Decluttered Interiors
Just like the exterior’s, Kia Cerato’s interior consoles have been rearranged to simplify the driving experience. Instead of having separate buttons, the car now has a central display that features all the console and infotainment buttons in a consolidated format. Moreover, controls for climate change have been positioned just below the display to ease the user experience. The central display is very similar to the one found in Hyundai i30.
The dashboard as well as the door panels have been trimmed with premium leather coverings and the car has got a new steering wheel above the ignition button. The air vents in the cabin have also been borrowed from Stinger and they are said to be ‘aeronautically inspired’.
Taking on the competition
The 2018 Kia Cerato will be primarily positioned to compete with Subaru Impreza. In Dubai, the Kia Cerato is perceived as a family car that is affordable and which delivers value for money. The stylishly upgraded Cerato will definitely have a fair chance to compete with the likes of Subaru Impreza and Toyota Corolla Altis.
