The Touareg has been one of Volkswagen’s most expensive vehicle and it is one of the popular luxury SUV’s in different global markets. In order to keep up the competition, Volkswagen is preparing an upgraded version for the upcoming launch in 2018. Recently, the vehicle was spied while it was being tested and the spy shots clearly reveal that a sportier version of the SUV is due to be launched.
A Sleeker Model
The upcoming version of the Touareg is much sleeker and more stylish than the current version. The front fascia has been spruced up with a trimmed front grille and a new set of integrated headlights. The rear has been stylized by sleeker headlights and a couple of chrome exhaust outlets. As of now, the spy photos have revealed that the Touareg will be available in 2 colours, namely blue and beige. The blue model appears sporty while the beige model has a luxurious feel.
The Engine
The design of the Volkswagen Touareg SUV is inspired by Audi Q7 and it is based on Volkswagen’s MLB Evo platform. Currently, the details regarding the engine are not known but it is speculated that the SUV will be equipped with 2.0-liter four-cylinder. There is also a possibility that a high-powered version of the Touareg will be made available later and that this model might be equipped with Audi’s 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbo.
Release Date
The new Touareg is being built at Volkswagen’s Bratislava plant in Slovakia. There is a possibility that the new Touareg will make its debut in in Beijing at the 2018 Auto China event. The launch in the UAE market will soon follow.
The Touareg is a popular luxury SUV in the UAE market and the vehicle can also be driven in an off-road mode on the rugged terrain of the deserts surrounding Dubai. The Touareg has been tested successfully in the Wadis of the northern UAE and it performed as good as any other heavy-duty vehicle. The upcoming model of the Touareg will prove to be as popular as its previous versions considering the right mix of luxury and toughness that it offers.
