Hyundai has always been known to build its brand by means of aggressive marketing. So it does not come as surprise to see Hyundai come up with a refreshed model of the Veloster hatchback to fill in the void that has been left by the exit of Ford Fiesta in some of the key global markets. Hyundai Veloster was originally meant to rival Ford Focus but the car never managed to woo customers away from Ford Fiesta. Even though Veloster failed to get an edge over competition, it is now geared up to further strengthen its position in the market.
The revived model of the Veloster will make its debut at the upcoming 2018 Detroit Motor Show and subsequent launches in regional market will soon follow. The upcoming model will be reportedly getting an upgraded engine along with new powertrain.
The new powertrain
The updated Veloster will be available with 2 engine options, namely the 1.4-liter and 1.6-liter 4-cylinder petrol engines. The 1.6-liter engine will be a turbocharged engine and both the version will be connected to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission system. The 1.6-liter engine option will also have an option of a 6-speed manual transmission.
A high performance version of Veloster called as the Veloster N will also be available and this variant will be equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that is found in i30 N. The i30 N is delivered 271 hp by the engine and it is safe to speculate that the Veloster N will also be delivered the same amount of power. Additionally, the variant will also be using the electronic limited-slip differential that will be available in the i30 N.
Delivering fun and excitement
The Veloster has always been positioned as a youth-centric compact car that delivers an exciting driving experience due to its refined style. For customers in Dubai and other regions in Middle East, the Veloster is perceived as an affordable yet stylish and sophisticated hatchback that delivers high performance. Ultimately, the quirky little car delivers true value for money as it is equipped with almost all required gadgets and features that are expected from a good selling hatchback.
