The 2018 Hyundai Accent: A safe car that is also stylish

The Hyundai Accent has earned the reputation as one of the most economical, spacious and stylish compact cars. However, the Korean sedan has always lagged behind small Japanese cars from Mazda and Honda as far as safety ratings are concerned.

Earlier, the 2017 Hyundai Accent had failed to yield satisfactory results during the small overlap front crash test conducted by IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). Hyundai has bolstered the 2018 Hyundai Accent by reinforcing its chassis for a higher crash resistance.

Reengineering the chassis

The body of the 2018 Hyundai Accent has been strengthened by the use of 54.5% of high-strength steel that not only offers protection from small overlap crashes but also offers better handling. Hyundai has launched three trim levels of the crash-resistant Accent in the Dubai market and the higher versions are equipped with the advanced Forward Collision-Assistance Assist.

The 2018 model of the Accent is larger and wider than its predecessor. The wheelbase of the new Accent has grown to 101.6 inches and it has been endowed with good looks thanks to the brand new cascading grille.

Good Fuel Economy

The new Hyundai Accent delivers an impressive fuel economy and the respective mpg figures for city/highway/combined are 28/37/31. The base version gets a 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 97 hp power and 132 Nm torque.

The engine is coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission system with an FWD that makes the car speed up from 0-100 Km/h in 12.2 seconds. The top speed of the car is 185 km/h.

Classy Interiors

Within upgraded and newly stylized 2018 Hyundai Accent is ready to take on rivals like Ford Fiesta, Toyota Yaris IA, Nissan Tiida and Nissan Versa. The vehicle will appear attractive to price-sensitive buyers and particularly to white-collared expats who wish to buy an affordable city car that offers both, style as well as comfort.

Perhaps, the 2018 Hyundai Accent might face stiff competition from sporty hatchbacks that have the appeal of a compact sedan. The Dubai car market has a large number of hatchback models that are versatile, practical and extremely affordable.

It remains to be seen whether the Hyundai Accent succeeds in strengthening its position by staying immune to the hatchback onslaught. Please, we know your opinions on this particular Hyundai model.
