Audi Q8 tested successfully on the Nürburgring race track

The competition in the SUV car segment is intense as luxury SUVs have to not only compete among themselves but also with non-luxury SUV’s. The mid-size luxury SUV niche is seen as the most competitive and every competitor is churning out vehicles that offer the best combination of performance, space, comfort and safety. Audi is one of the car makers who has been leading the segment and outselling its competitors since 2009.

Currently, the Audi Q7 is the German car maker’s flagship crossover and very soon it will be launching the much awaited Q8 model; the successor of Q7. Audi has already showcased the Q8 concept at the Detroit motor show in January 2017. Currently, the model is being tested thoroughly at different venues before it gets launched in 2018.

The 16.5 feet long Q8 will be equipped with a modified version of four-cylinder V6 and V8 diesel and petrol engines. It is even speculated that the car might be equipped with a W12 engine sometime later.  Moreover, it will be equipped with a modified version of Q7’s comfortable cabin and the car will have a driver oriented console with touchscreens. The car has a wheelbase of 9.8 feet and it is longer than the Range Rover.

The BMW X6 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE are already out in the market and the two of rivals have already planned the launch of X7 and the next-generation GLS to counteract the threat posed by Q8. Audi had earlier revealed that the Q8 will be made available within affordable limits and hence the upcoming car will impress the Emiratis in the Dubai market.

The Q8 is apt for delivering a stellar performance on Dubai long and winding roads because the prototype was recently tested on Nürburgring’s race track which is considered as the most demanding track. The test drive clearly revealed that the Q8 can be comfortably maneuvered around a large number if corners on a long road.
